2025 runDisney Events, Themes, Prices and Tips

The runDisney race events are a special way to enjoy the parks. You might run by Cinderella Castle during a sunrise or do yoga on Hollywood Boulevard when it’s dark out. There’s nothing like it. The 2025 runDisney information that is out is below. The race weekends follow a similar formula every year.

There’s a lot to know about runDisney. Each race weekend is different depending on where the courses start and end. With the Springtime Surprise, you never know what kind of themes and distances you’ll get. You can also take a challenge and run multiple events during one race weekend. Here are the 2025 runDisney events we know of.

When do runDisney races go on sale?

When you want to run a runDisney race, knowing the day registration opens up is important. Dates vary annually. You’ll usually need to set a reminder and sign up as soon as bibs go on sale. Events for the same weekend usually all go on sale the same day. If you’re just curious but not quite ready to jump in, or if the race you’re interested in is sold out, you can at least take a look at the annual lineup to know what to expect.

Walt Disney World Resort 2025 runDisney Events: Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend 2025

The Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend is January 8th through January 12th in 2025.

When does Disney marathon registration open?

The 2025 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend registration opened April 2nd for Club runDisney gold and platinum and 10:00 a.m. ET on April 9th for everyone else.

All events for the Disney marathon race weekend are sold out for 2025.

In August of 2024, runDisney revealed the medal designs for the 2024 Walt Disney World Marathon weekend events. All finishers get a medal.

The Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend is February 21st through the 24th in 2025.

The 2025 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend registration opened July 23rd for Club runDisney gold and platinum and 10:00 a.m. ET on July 30th for everyone else.

Springtime Surprise Weekend 2025

The Springtime Surprise Weekend is April 3rd through the 6th in 2025.

The 2025 Springtime Surprise Weekend registration opens August 20th, 2024 for Club runDisney gold and platinum and 10:00 a.m. ET on August 27th for everyone else.

Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend 2025

Dates for the Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend for 2025 are not out yet.

We can expect the runDisney events for this race weekend to follow this formula based on past years:

  • Disney Wine & Dine 5K
  • Disney Wine & Dine 10K
  • Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon
  • Disney Two Course Challenge
  • Post-Race Party at Epcot

The 2024 Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon weekend registration opened in March this year.

Disneyland Resort 2025 runDisney races: Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend

The Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend takes place January 30th through February 2nd in 2024.

When does Disneyland Half Marathon registration open?

The 2025 Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend registration opened June 11th for Club runDisney gold and platinum and 10:00 a.m. ET on July 2nd for everyone else.

At the time this post was written in mid August, all events for the Disneyland Half Marathon race weekend are sold out for 2025 except for the Dumbo Double Dare Challenge.

Disneyland Halloween Half Marathon Weekend

The inaugural Disneyland Halloween Half Marathon Weekend takes place September 5th through the 8th in 2024. Information has not yet been shared about the 2025 event.

FAQs runDisney 2025

Are the runDisney 2025 events sold out?

The runDisney 2025 events that happen early in the year are close to being sold out. Basically, if an event has been on sale for a few days, it’s probably sold out. The events fill to capacity quickly. The runDisney Springtime Surprise weekend events go on sale in August of 2024. For Club runDisney that’s August 20th and general registration opens August 27 at 10:00 a.m.

Can anyone do runDisney races?

The runDisney races and events are open to the public. There isn’t a requirement that has to be met in order to sign up like having a resort reservation.

Can you dress up for runDisney events?

Yes, many people dress up for runDisney races! It’s exciting to be able to dress up for runDisney races because usually adults can’t wear costumes in the parks except for at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. At runDisney events, it’s popular to follow the theme but you can do what feels fun to you. There are costume rules in the runDisney race policies. Costumes can be worn but they must not be violent, drag on the ground and such. There are quite a few costume rules so read over what’s acceptable, especially if you’re planning something extravagant.

Pro top: Always practice running in your runDisney race costume before the big day!

Do you have to train for runDisney events?

The amount of training you need to do for any running race depends on the distance. A good indicator to help you with training is considering how you currently match up with the pacing requirements. runDisney says this: “Must maintain a minimum of 16-minutes-per-mile pace for all participants for all race distances. A training pace of 15-minutes-per-mile pace is recommended.” If you aren’t able to maintain this time and it gets too late, you may be asked to leave the course.

Does runDisney have free training plans?

There are free runDisney training plans you can follow that use former Olympian Jeff Galloway’s run-walk-run method. The runDisney running training programs have detailed distance calendars and pacing recommendations for beginners and experienced runners.

How does the runDisney Springtime Surprise work?

The runDisney Springtime Surprise is unique race weekend at Disney World in Florida. Each year, different race themes are announced and the race lengths vary too.

In 2024, there was a Neverland themed 5K, an Up themed 10K, an Hakuna Matata 10 miler and a Stitch themed challenge.

In 2025 there is a Groot 5K, a Hercules 10K, an Incredibles 10 miler and a Big Hero 6 themed challenge.

Is there a runDisney 5K on Disney Cruise Line Castaway Cay?

There have been various running events on the private Disney island Castaway Cay over the years. Right now, Disney Cruise Line guests can enjoy a 5K course on the island. The Castaway Cay 5K is at your own pace and does not have a designated start time. You do not have to sign up to participate in the Castaway Cay 5K.

However, there is a medal! Your Castaway Cay 5K medal can be picked up at the Bike Rental stand on the island. This is not an organized race but a course you can follow signs for instead. You may find Castaway Cay 5K merchandise available for purchase on the island in the shops.
