When you buy points on the resale market, you can select the lender of your choice outside of Disney. Become a Member with a DVC Loan

If you enjoy vacationing regularly and staying at Disney hotels, at Walt Disney World Resort especially, becoming a DVC Member may be an economic choice. How long is a DVC loan?

There is a lot of flexibility when you take out a DVC loan. It’s possible to take a loan of up to 10 years or 120 months. That is the most popular loan length but you can choose a shorter length if it’s appropriate for you. The length of a DVC loan also depends on the loan amount. Loans over $8,000 have terms of up to 10 years while loans under $8,000 have terms of up to 7 years.

How much does a DVC resale loan cost?

Vacation Club Loans proudly waves loan origination fees at closing. These can be costly in upwards of $200. That’s notable upfront savings.

Do you have to borrow from Disney Vacation Club or can you use a different lender for DVC points?

You do not need to take out a loan from Disney Vacation Club directly in order to finance DVC points. You are able to select the lender of your choice. Disney says, “While you may be able to finance your purchase through Disney Vacation Club, you can always consider options from other financial institutions.” It’s always good to have options! When you borrow from Vacation Club Loans, there is no prepayment penalty after 90 days. It’s possible to borrow and pay more than your monthly loan payment or make large sum payments. No prepayment penalty gives you lots of flexibility in paying your DVC loan off.

Is it hard to get approved for a DVC resale loan?

Something else to know about resale Disney Vacation Club loans is that they’re all guaranteed with Vacation Club Loans. They approve all DVC loans. Using the DVC loan calculator mentioned above, we’re seeing how much a $16,350 contract works out to be monthly with a loan. This number buys a different amount of points at different resorts. Here it’s inspired by a real 150 point contract for sale at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas. With 10% down, $1,635, the loan amount is $14,715. With excellent credit and an interest rate of 11.9%, this DVC loan would cost $ 210.27 per month for 120 months or ten years. Shorter terms would bring the monthly payment to $ 258.97 for 84 months, $ 326.58 for 60 months or $ 488.05 for 36 months.

Choosing a home resort and budgeting for a DVC Loan

So what’s the best order to consider a DVC loan, your monthly budget and your home resort? Picking a resort is the fun part and you may be able to find a lower cost option if pricing is a top priority for you.

Newer resorts have fewer contracts for sale on the resale market. Some resorts, including Riviera and those built after it, have booking restrictions with resale.

Is financing DVC Resale worth it?

Does it still make sense to buy DVC if you take a loan out? Going over the numbers with fine detail will help you determine what’s right for you. If taking out a loan is the only way for you to get DVC and you visit every year, you’ll definitely want to get specific and crunch the numbers. Here are some things to consider in your decision making. Savings with DVC can be significant, savings with resale DVC are even greater. Even if you’re paying interest, it may still be a better value than not being a DVC member. This is going to vary by resort and the price of the contract.

You will also want to compare a DVC loan to how much resale goes up over time. Another reason it might be worth it to take out a DVC loan is that the prices of DVC and resale DVC go up. In predictable times we see resale DVC prices go up a little bit each year. We’ve had an interesting situation the last couple of years with many variables. However, if you look back ten years, prices are much different.
