Surprisingly, things have slowed again for DVC Resale Experts buybacks. This is good news for buyers for now. However, if you’re considering buying resale DVC points, you may still want to take advantage of the current state. Things change from month to month and we never know what’s next. Overall, this is still a great time for DVC resale buyers with contracts at most resorts going through to completion on the first try.

Disney ROFR DVC July 2024: We’ve Got One
In July of 2024, Disney chose to use ROFR to buy back about 2.2% of DVC Resale Expert sales. Out of the 45 ROFR responses received, 44 contracts passed and 1 was bought back by DVC.

Disney’s Old Key West Resort had one buyback in July and at a high of $78 per point.
Resorts that were not bought back by DVC during this time, because Disney Vacation Club chose to not buy any back, include the rest of the home resort round up: Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas, Aulani, A Disney Resort and Spa, Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Beach Club Villas, Disney’s BoardWalk Villas, Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, Copper Creek Villas and Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, The Villas at Disneyland Hotel, The Villas at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel, Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort, Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows, Disney’s Riviera Resort, Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort and Disney’s Vero Beach Resort.
Thoughts on ROFR DVC July 2024 Stats: What This Might Mean for Buyers
Will ROFR buy backs continue? Will ROFR be regular again?
Based on the data, it seems like we could still be expecting at least one or a few ROFR buybacks each month. Where will they be? Disney’s Old Key West Resort has been a consistent favorite for months. So how do we use this data to help with DVC resales?
Basically you wouldn’t try to purchase a contract for lower than the going buyback high. Here’s how that looks in action. Disney has been buying back Old Key West for as high as $78 per point over these last few months. It was lower the month before in June at $75 per point. The month before that, the high was $73 per point at Old Key West.
A price lower than $78 per point right now becomes risky, meaning it may not go through for the buyer and go to Disney instead. Looking at the most recent high prices paid helps us see what a good price to aim for is. It’s nice to get a deal but a price too low is more likely be bought back by Disney.
A ROFR buyback can be especially disappointing for those purchasing a rare DVC resale market contract. In the event that a contract is bought back by Disney, the Experts will be ready to assist you in next steps!
Why have Disney Vacation Club buybacks been rare in 2023 and early 2024?
Right of First Refusal buybacks are usually a regular occurrence. In a typical month, we might see a few buybacks at a few different resorts. We’re always aiming to keep potential buyers informed on which resorts are most popular. Not only are the resorts that Disney is interested in buying back important but the amount Disney is paying for those buybacks can guide you in your price point.
DVC doesn’t share why or when they might buy contracts back. Following news and trends can help us hypothesize. The pause and slow down on ROFR buybacks could be due to any of the following or some combination of these:
- Disney Vacation Club sales being slow
- Cutbacks since Bob Iger’s return as C.E.O.
- High interest rates could be deterring buyers
- The wide slate of resorts Disney is actively selling could be more of a draw
- Because of all this, Disney Vacation Club may be fully stocked and not need to buy back any contracts to cater to potential buyers’ needs

If you’re interested in buying a contract at a home resort that Disney is more likely to buy back in more normal conditions, this might be a good time to put in that offer you’ve been waiting on. Disney ROFR DVC Meaning
To refresh your memory or fill you in, here’s a reminder of what ROFR stands for and means. The letters ROFR stand for Right of First Refusal. What is DVC ROFR? Disney Vacation Club contracts say Disney has the Right of First Refusal, or the first opportunity, to buy a contract back when a Member chooses to sell Disney Vacation Club.
ROFR buybacks happen during the closing process when a Member is selling a DVC contract. When the seller accepts an offer from a buyer, Disney is able to buy the contract back at the agreed upon rate instead of letting the sale go through.
When Are Disney ROFR DVC Stats Important?
The Right of First Refusal is not as important for someone who is selling DVC points. Sellers make the same amount from a sale if Disney chooses to buy it back because they must pay the rate the seller agreed to sell it for as specified in Disney Vacation Club contracts. For sellers, Disney choosing to buy a contract back doesn’t make too much of a difference since the price is the same.
The Right of First Refusal is a very important part of the process for those who are buying resale DVC points. If Disney chooses to buy back the contract during the Right of First Refusal process, the sale does not move forward for the buyer.
