Disney Traditions for DVC Families

Disney Traditions for DVC Families

We, as Disney Vacation Club Members, know and love all of the magic that makes our favorite and most magical place on earth. One of the main reasons we became DVC members in the first place was to assure that our families would get to experience Disney as much as possible, and with all of the DVC perks. Most DVC families will say that Disney Vacation Club is worth every penny, because of the memories DVC and The Walt Disney World Company help cultivate for their families. You can’t put a price on memories, and Disney knows that, and maybe that’s the reason DVC uses a points system….kidding. Memories and family traditions go hand in hand, like Mickey and Minnie down Main Street USA, and we are here to give you some family traditions that you can start with your family today.

Start and End Your DVC Vacation at Disney Springs

For out of state guests, planning to head to a park the day you get to Orlando or on property is never the way to go- no matter how early your flight gets in.  One delayed flight or traffic jam and your day is as lost as Nemo. Instead, head to Disney Springs! Disney Springs has so much magic to offer and will definitely get you and your family even more excited for the park days that await. Don’t let that last day watching that nighttime spectacular be the end of your trip either.  Make one last stop to Disney Springs to pick up any forgotten souvenirs and Minnie Mouse oven mitts for your neighbor that’s getting your mail while you’re gone.

Pro Tip: I’m the oldest of five daughters and our parents would only let us do our souvenir shopping at Disney Springs, this way we didn’t spend all of our park hours shopping.

Matching Shirts

This ones for the DVC members who still might need convincing…family planned matching shirts. Buy ‘em, wear ‘em, love ‘em. Disney celebrates families and to quote Moana, “Family means nobody gets left behind.” Wearing matching outfits in front of Animal Kingdom’s Tree of Life isn’t just a great photo to keep recreating, it’s also a way to spot your family in the parks a little easier. Because yelling “Mom” or “Dad” on Main Street USA is like saying, “my sister is the one in the Mickey Ears.” Don’t leave any family members behind and don’t forget to take a picture in the same spot each trip!

Disney Birthdays

We already know Disney during the holidays is an extra dose of Disney Magic, and that includes birthdays too. Disney KNOWS how to celebrate. Remember DVC is more flexible, allowing you to use your points so each of your family members have the chance to celebrate a birthday at Disney and your favorite DVC Resort. And being a Disney Vacation Club member, you can book your birthday trips 11 months in advance from your first nights stay.

Dessert for Dinner

Dessert for Dinner during a nighttime spectacular? Sign us up. Not all Disney traditions need planning, and this dinner doesn’t even need reservations. Whether you are watching Disney’s Enchantment or Harmonious, you need a sweet! Let each family member get their own dessert and sample each others sweets as you take in all the magic. You can let some rules go on vacation and this one is a fun one that the whole family will enjoy… adults included. Remember Walt himself said, “Adults are only kids grown up, anyway.”

Something Old, Something New

If you are doing two dining reservations at Disney here is a good rule of thumb: one old, one new. Eating at the same restaurant your whole crew loves is a simple, yet great way to keep traditions alive on your Disney vacations. Also, try somewhere new! Your old favorite restaurant was once a new restaurant, and Disney is excellent about accommodating eating habits and restrictions for your whole Mickey Mouse Club!
