Disney Weekly Updates for January 27th 2022

Tom Sawyer Island Map

We all can’t be at Disney every day (although, we really wish we could be) and there are so many changes that are going on day to day to keep the happiest place on earth, the most magical. We, at DVC Resale Experts, want to keep you updated on all things Disney!

runDisney 2022 Medals are revealed!

As we mentioned in our previous blog, RunDisney 2022, this year for the 50th Anniversary, Disney is honoring runners with secret surprise medals for its runDisney 2022 Springtime Surprise weekend! We are thankful Disney is giving us a little hint of the magic that is in store for us! There are three races in the running weekend, and we can bet there will be pixie dust sprinkled surprises everywhere.

The races and special edition medals are below:

Expedition Everest 5k Medal

Expedition Everest 5k: Animal Kingdom

3.1 mile evening race and scavenger park through Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Race for the Taste 10k Medal

Race for the Taste 10k: Walt Disney World Resort

6.2 mile Ratatouille theme race. When you are done with this race make sure to order everything on Chef Ratatouille’s menu. You will have definitely earned it.

Tower of Terror 10 Mile Medal

Twilight Zone Tower of Terror Ten Miler: Walt Disney World Resort

I don’t know what’s scarier, The Tower of Terror, or waking up early to run 10 miles before a day at the park. However, Goofy is pretty cute on that medal, so it might be worth it.

Springtime Surprise Challenge Medal

2022 Springtime Surprise Challenge: All three races.

If you are so bold as to jog through the Expedition Everest 5k, sprint through the Race for the Taste 10k, and run your way in the early Twilight Zone Tower of Terror Ten Miler- then this medal is for you. Runners who complete all three races, will be honored with this special medal featuring the mouse who made the magic all possible!

Updates to Tom Sawyer Island

Updates and changes have been made to Tom Sawyer Island from The Walt Disney World Company as part of the company’s inclusivity project. Names such as Tom Sawyer, Becky Thatcher and other controversial names have been removed from the island’s rafts and signage. The signs have been painted over and Disney has yet to announce if a change will be made. The Injun Joe’s cave sign has also been removed this week, but his name still remains on the Tom Sawyer map as of now. All of this has been done to promote more magic in the happiest place on earth for all Disney lovers.
