Everything to Know About Disney World Water Parks

It’s sizzling hot in Orlando for much of the year. The summer months really feel like May through September in the sunshine state. While the theme parks are always a good time, you might find yourself wanting a cooler option to enjoy. Especially in the summer months when the humidity is overwhelming. Walt Disney World Resort has not one but two great water parks to put in your trip itinerary. We’re also mentioning a few resorts that have amazing pool and water play areas. Whether it’s summer, or you’re just planning for it, we’ve got all the basics you need to know to have an amazing visit to Disney World water parks.

Make a Splash: Disney World Water Parks Orlando Guide

Walt Disney World Resort has two water parks: Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park and Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park. The Disney water parks now take turns operating, leaving only one open at a time. This one at a time structure was introduced when they reopened after the pandemic closure.

How much are Disney World water park tickets?

Disney World water park tickets work differently than the theme parks do.

If you want to purchase just a one day water park ticket, you have two options.

The one day water park ticket is $74 for ages 10 and up and $68 for ages 3 to 9.

The one day water park ticket with blockout dates is $64 for ages 10 and up and $58 for ages 3 to 9.

For the 1-Day Water Park Ticket option, you choose the date you want to go.

For the 1-Day Water Park Ticket option with blockout dates, tickets are not valid for admission from May 25th to September 29th in 2024 and May 24th to September 28th in 2025.

Tickets can be used at either Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park or Disney’s Blizzard Beach water park.

Water park tickets are valid through December 31, 2025.

You can also add an option on to your theme park ticket to include water park access.

It’s also possible to pick a Disney annual pass that includes the water parks as well as the theme parks.

Disney World Typhoon Lagoon Attractions: What’s at Typhoon Lagoon?

According to the Disney website there are about 11 things to do at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park. The Typhoon Lagoon attractions may need to be enjoyed more than once to get the full experience though. For example, some of the water rides have more than one side or slide to choose from. It’s common to hop on some rides a few different times to make sure you get it all in.

This has a 60″ height requirement

This lazy river style attraction is open for all ages and any height.


Crush ‘n’ Gusher
This has a 48″ height requirement

Gangplank Falls
This attraction is open for all ages and any height.

Humunga Kowabunga
This has a 48″ height requirement.


Keelhaul Falls
This attraction is open for all ages and any height.


Ketchakiddee Creek
This area has a 48″ height requirement.


Mayday Falls
This attraction is open for all ages and any height.

Miss Adventure Falls
This attraction is open for all ages and any height.


Storm Slides
This attraction is open for all ages and any height.

Disney World Blizzard Beach Attractions: What’s at Blizzard Beach?

The Disney World website lists about 12 things to do at Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park. Within this line up there is a racer style set of slides and others with more than one side to try. There is plenty to do at both of the Walt Disney World Resort water parks.

This attraction has a 48″ height requirement.

Ski Patrol Training Camp
This attraction is open for children of all ages and any height.

Slush Gusher
This attraction has a 48″ height requirement.

Snow Stormers
This attraction is open for all ages and any height.

Summit Plummet
This attraction has a 48″ height requirement.

Teamboat Springs
This attraction is open for all ages and any height.


Tike’s Peak

Disney World Water Park Hours

This summer, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park is almost always open at 10:00 a.m. but has different closing times varying from 5:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. in June to 8:00 p.m. starting late June. The Typhoon Lagoon closing time depends on the day. Check the My Disney Experience app for your desired date.  

Disney World Water Parks 2025 Special Offer

There is a unique offer for Disney World resort hotel guests in 2025. On check in day, everyone on your resort reservation gets free access to a water park. That is, the water park that’s open at the time. The offer can not be transferred to another day. This offer is for participating Walt Disney World Resort Hotels and includes Disney Vacation Club Member stays.

Disney World Water Parks FAQs

Is there a Disney World water parks annual pass?

There is currently no Disney World water park annual pass being offered. There was a Disney Water Park Seasonal Pass for $79 per pass, plus tax but it was only valid through May 24th, 2024.

Which Disney World water park is open right now?

As of summer 2024, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon is open. Since the pandemic, Disney World only has one water park open at a time.

Will Blizzard Beach be open Summer 2024?

Disney has announced no plans to open Blizzard Beach for summer 2024. Instead, Blizzard Beach will reopen on Monday, November 4th, 2024. We can assume the water parks are continuing to operate one at a time until Disney says otherwise.

Is there a Disney After Hours at the water parks?

Disney hosts special events that give guests a chance to enjoy the parks after they close for regular day operations. These events are called Disney After Hours. There is an after hours style event at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon waterpark. These usually come with lower wait times at attractions, lower crowds and complementary treats, like popcorn and ice cream.

The waterpark version of this event will vary quite a bit from the theme parks. There aren’t quite as many things to do at the water parks however, Disney does add a few things for this event. After hours at Typhoon Lagoon, guests might be able to meet some characters at a dance party. There is also a DJ and a lively atmosphere in the middle of the park by the wave pool. Because this happens at night and the waterparks are typically a daytime thing, some special enhancements are made for the after hours events. On your way in, you may be given a glow stick to wear. The lazy river is filled with special Disney character floats.

After hours at Typhoon Lagoon runs from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Guest can get in as early as 6:00 p.m. After hours times can vary so check for the date of your experience. 

When will Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park open 2024?

Following the schedule of the last few years, the Walt Disney World calendar shows Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park reopens on Monday, November 4th, 2024.

Blizzard Beach closed March 17th in 2024 which is the same day Typhoon Lagoon reopened. In 2022, Blizzard Beach reopened after a summer/fall closure on November 13th. In 2023, it reopened November 6th.

When will Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park close 2024?

Also following the schedule of the last few years, the Walt Disney World calendar shows Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park will close on Sunday, November 3, 2024. This is the last day to enjoy this Disney World water park this year.

Typhoon Lagoon opened March 17th in 2024 which is the same day Blizzard Beach Lagoon closed. In 2022, Typhoon Lagoon closed on November 13th after a summer/fall open season. In 2023, it closed again November 6th.

Does Disneyland have a water park?

Disneyland does not have a water park. There are just two theme parks there: Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure. You will find multiple pools to enjoy at the Disneyland resort hotels.

Is River Country still there at Disney World? What is River Country now?

If you visited Disney World any time from from 1976 to 2001, you may have experienced a different water park. River Country was a more natural kind of water park located in between Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground and Disney’s Wilderness Lodge.

Do you need a park reservation for Disney water parks?

At this time, you do not need a park reservation to visit a water park. However, Disney says reservation requirements are subject to change.
