‘Tis the season at Walt Disney World! More pixie dusted holiday magic has returned this year, especially at resorts! Disney’s Beach Club gingerbread carousel 2021 is themed to the animated film The Little Mermaid. The carousel horses are incredibly detailed in designs inspired by Ariel, Prince Eric, Ursula and King Triton. The carousel actually turns! There’s also a stationary carousel horse featuring Sebastian and Flounder. With the Walt Disney World 50th anniversary celebration underway this year, there are special iridescent looking snowflake cookies around the top with 50th crests too.

The last time the Beach Club gingerbread carousel made its rounds it was in a Peter Pan theme in 2019. Over the years the carousel has been themed after Disney movies and characters like Lilo and Stitch and Donald and Daisy. In 2020, Disney’s Beach Club didn’t have a gingerbread display as the resort was just partially open, only accommodating Disney Vacation Club stays, as Walt Disney World continued to rebuild after reopening.

The Beach Club gingerbread carousel is massive and made with 2,020 pieces of gingerbread. This edible holiday piece has a long list of bulk ingredients. It took 432 pounds of honey alone! Also baked into this holiday eye candy are 1,200 pounds of rye flour and 25 pounds of spices decorated with 200 pounds of icing. It’s mesmerizing to watch this confectionary attraction spin and so impressive that it lasts all season long. The artistry, colors and attention to detail make it worth a visit on your trip. The display is also covered in 21 golden hidden Mickeys! See if you can spot any in these photos..

In addition to making the lobby feel festive and fun, the gingerbread carousel at Beach Club also adds a place to buy holiday treats. Just behind the display you’ll find a gingerbread themed set up with a few tables covered in various sweets available for purchase. There are white chocolate covered cookie sandwich pops, plant based brownies, gingerbread men, of course, and other Disney, 50th anniversary and Christmas inspired delights. You might also find hot chocolate and a version for adults with Amaretto almond flavored liqueur. Also check Beach Club Resort’s nearby grab and go restaurant option, Beach Club Marketplace, for yummy seasonal offerings like Stollen bread, gluten free gingerbread men, cookies and fudge.

The gingerbread carousel is presented by the Yacht & Beach Bakery and this is the 21st year of the display. After a little time talking to the commodore, the captain figure cast member in the lobby that welcomes guests, I learned of the exciting sustainable fate of the gingerbread after the holiday season. The display will be deconstructed and the gingerbread parts are given to a beekeeper. The amount of honey in the baked goods makes it a delightful offering for bees.
