Drawn to Life

Cirque du Soleil

After three delayed opening dates, Disney’s Drawn to Life presented by Cirque du Soleil finally has an official opening date- NOVEMBER 18th! Originally set to debut April 17th, 2020 this colorful, energetic, acrobatic show will be coming to life twice a day at Disney Springs- starting this month. (Early stocking stuffer?) Here are 10 things we know about the show so far!

1.) This is the first time Cirque du Soleil, Walt Disney Animation Studios, and Walt Disney Imagineering have ever collaborated on a project. We know one thing- no one does collaborations like Disney. Remember the first time Disney worked with Pixar? Let me remind you- TOY STORY was born.

2.) Drawn to Life is a love letter to Disney’s Animation department. We swoon over Cinderella’s dress, gasp when we see Elsa, and tear up when Mickey and Minnie hold hands….and now it’s time to give credit to the department who is responsible for all of our favorite characters.

3.) Like all things Disney, this show will most definitely leave both kids and adults smiling and dreaming. The story stars a daughter named Julie, who finds a letter from her late father and Disney Animator, Tom. She discovers some unfinished drawings of his which lead her on a beautiful and colorful journey.

4.) There is a character named Mr.Pencil, who we are sure to fall in love with and probably will buy a t-shirt of after the show. (or at least an ornament) Mr.Pencil is to Julie what Sebastian is to Ariel, Chip is to Belle, Olaf is to Anna…you get it. We are gonna love him.

5.) There’s also a villain- Miss Hesitation (Ugh! Such a good name) who gets in the way of Julie’s mission. She will fill her head with doubt and fears and it will take the help of some of our favorite Disney characters to help her find her way back.

6.) The show will be running twice a day for 90 minutes on the West Side of Disney Springs! Buying tickets ahead of time is highly encouraged as this show is highly anticipated.

7.)  The average ticket price for opening week is $85, but it’s opening day is the week before Thanksgiving and during the 50th Anniversary…that being said, buy them now so you don’t have to pay the “waiting until last minute Disney tax.”

8.) Eric Goldberg who was the mastermind behind Aladdin’s Genie, is one of the head animators on this project.

9.) Drawn to Life stars 11 main acrobat performers and the show has 65 internal performers that are vital to bringing it…well to life.

10.) Cirque du Soleil and Disney are sure to leave us filled with hope and happy tears while pulling at all of our emotions and heart strings.  How do they do that every time?! We don’t need to know how the magic gets made, we just love being apart of it!
