Asterisks

*Disney Vacation Club direct prices may have been different throughout the calendar year of 2022. Here we are looking at the year end prices. DVC direct per point prices have already gone up and are higher nearly across the board in 2023.

**Direct pricing at The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort changed throughout the year. At a different point in time, you could have paid $255 instead of $207. Why the price drop? In 2022, this home resort increased capacity with the addition of a new DVC building. The Big Pine Key building was renovated to offer a new studio room type at the Grand. This altered pricing as The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort became available as a resort Disney was actively selling. You can see resorts Disney is actively selling at any given time, and pricing, on the Disney Vacation Club Membership costs page of the site. It’s assumed we may see something similar happen regarding direct prices when the new addition at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows that is under construction opens. Wording about the new building seems to indicate it will be an expansion of capacity at the current Polynesian home resort and not a new and separate home resort. Resorts that are actively being sold by Disney Vacation Club may also have specials throughout the year which can temporarily lower the overall cost.

DVC Average Resale Price 2022 Thoughts

Initial thoughts on the DVC average resale prices for 2022 are centered around surprise. Disney has had a turbulent few years with the 2020 closure and a questionably slow reopening and rebuilding process among other things like replacing the Disney CEO. While many sought revenge travel in 2021 and 2022, many DVC Members chose to sell their contracts in response to the changes at Disney or for personal or financial reasons. The later part of the year presented a buyer’s market with many resale DVC contracts available. Here’s the surprising part. Even with so many contracts up for sale, the annual DVC average resale price was still higher than the year before for nearly all resorts. An abundance of inventory did not lower the price dramatically. This says a lot about the value of Disney Vacation Club Memberships.

2022 vs 2021 DVC Average Resale Prices

Below we’re comparing DVC average resale prices 2022 vs 2021. Year to year, the overall DVC average resale price went up a normal amount from about $137 in 2021 to about $141 in 2022. This approximate $4 price jump is line with recent annual trends. The price jump from 2020 to 2021 was about $8. The year before that, the DVC average resale prices went up about $5.

What is My DVC Contract Worth?

This is an important question for those interested in selling DVC or just curious about their timeshare value. The DVC average resale prices are a helpful look at the big picture. For pricing information specific to your Membership and to find out how much your contract is worth, contact DVC Resale Experts for a complementary valuation. The number of points, length of membership remaining and home resort on your contract can all play into your estimated value. The number of points available also matters in determining worth. If you need to sell DVC fast, there are options for that, too.

Planning Your Purchase Based on DVC Resale Average Prices

Month to month or year to year, we may not see very big jumps in Disney Vacation Club resale prices. Over time, however, DVC Memberships rise in price considerably. When buying directly from Disney, resorts cost different amounts based on popularity, amenities and such. There are similar variations in price on the DVC resale market.

We see the market ebb and flow regularly, switching from a buyer’s market to a seller’s market depending on the wishes of owners and potential owners. Even in buyer’s market conditions, when there are more contracts available than buyers interested, per point prices don’t drop as much as you might think. There may be some room to negotiate but coming in with a very low offer is risky. Aside from the seller declining an offer that’s too low, Disney Vacation Club might take interest in a very low price contract and purchase it back during the Right of First Refusal process. The Right of First Refusal, also referred to as ROFR, is an unavoidable part of resale. The DVC Resale Experts are happy to guide you through the process and keep you informed. With a pulse on the market and decades of experience, you can count on the Experts to help you place a competitive offer that you’re happy with.

Timing and Selling a DVC Contract

The best time to sell a Disney Vacation Club contract is when you have decided you’re ready to part with your contract. Because we don’t have a regular, reliable pattern to follow for per point prices, waiting may not present your best option. As long as you own your contract, you will need to pay your annual dues.

Another important detail in timing when you want to sell Disney Vacation Club is using your points. The amount of points on your contract plays a large part in the valuation of the contract. Importantly, the amount of points available is also important. This can alter the value by quite a bit. You will want to wait to list until you have either used your points or have decided you will not be booking any more stays with that contract. It is possible to list your contract with an upcoming stay, as long as it’s not too far out. The amount of points available will need to be accurate and the fact that the buyer may have to wait until your trip is over is disclosed up front.
