Frequently Asked DVC Home Resort Questions & Helpful Tips

What is the DVC Home Resort Booking Window?

Disney Vacation Club offers flexibility in booking at different times throughout the year and, for those eligible, at different resorts. Your home resort is still important, though. You can book vacations at your home resort before others can. The eleven month booking advantage can help you reserve the dates you want for your stays. You can book seven months in advance at properties other than your home resort. That four month difference might be what helps you get the exact stay you want.

Which DVC property is best for you? Consider Your DVC Home Resort Location

Picking the best DVC home resort depends on your personal preferences and how you like to vacation. If you like to rope drop Magic Kingdom multiple days on your trip, you might want a Magic Kingdom monorail loop resort. Maybe food booths and Epcot festival nights are your favorite. It sounds like one of the options within walking or boating distance of the park would be a great fit.

Which Disney resort transportation do you prefer?

Considering the modes of transportation available at your potential home resort can be helpful too. Staying at a resort on the Disney Skyliner really opens things up. Of course, the monorail connects Magic Kingdom and Epcot, so any place on the monorail loop provides more options. Many resorts also have boat transport which is a nice option to have. Busses are the most common Disney transportation style. Most of the DVC home resort options have busses and other Disney transportation options to choose from.

Dining options at your home resort can make a big difference in your trips. Pictured is the arancini appetizer from Bar Riva at Disney’s Riviera Resort. Riviera also has a character breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace.

Where should I buy DVC resale points? Think About Dining at Your Home Resort

Aside from location and transportation, dining options at your resort can enhance your experience. If you’re deciding between a few resorts, think about the meals you’ll eat at your resort most often. It might be dinner on check in day so you can settle in and relax. Breakfast is a big deal for some travelers so maybe checking that your resort has decent options for that helps you choose the property that’s right for you. Disney character meals at resorts are another fun offering to think about. These can save you time in the parks if you get to visit your favorite at breakfast or dinner instead of waiting in line.

Which DVC home resort has the theme you like most?

For most Members, it’s possible to use your points to book at different DVC resorts. Still, when choosing a home resort you want to make sure the theme is one you’ll enjoy being welcomed home to. It’s worth spending a little more or waiting for the right contract to get what you know you’ll love.

If the European charm of Disney’s Riviera Resort just makes your heart sing, go for it. Know that if you purchase resale at Riviera, there are booking restrictions and you can only book there so you definitely want to love it.

Maybe it’s the thought of the palm trees swaying and boat rides to Disney Springs from Disney’s Old Key West Resort that intrigues you. The theme of the resort impacts a lot of your stay from the style of food offered to the lobby aesthetics to your room decor. When you buy DVC resale at one of the original 14 DVC resorts, you are able to book at the others on that list.
