DVC Resorts with the Worst Firework Views

Each Disney Vacation Club Resort is truly a work of art. Aside from individual preferences or meeting the specific needs of your travel party, there just isn’t a resort that isn’t as nice as the others. Every DVC resort is someone’s favorite. Some love a more laid back experience among the pastels and flowers of Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa or an architectural masterpiece to stay at like Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. What we can say is that some Disney Vacation Club resorts don’t make the mark when it comes to watching the nightly fireworks Disney is famous for. And so, we present to you, DVC Resorts with the worst firework views.

We have a growing collection of posts featuring different resorts that address the firework views from Wilderness Lodge or the Polynesian. These are fantastic for planning your hotel stay but also for planning dining and where you may be able to catch a view of nighttime shows any time during your vacation. As for those who don’t want to see them, this lineup could be helpful for those looking to avoid fireworks while at their resort. Maybe your little one is a light sleeper. It might be that there’s a sensitivity to sounds in your party and you don’t want the chance of coming into contact with any pyrotechnics at all.

The DVC Resorts with the Worst Firework Views

For the purposes of this post, we’re going over the Disney Vacation Club Resorts at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. The resorts that are far from Disney Parks, Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas, Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort and Disney’s Vero Beach Resort, of course don’t have firework views at all. Over at Disneyland, both DVC resorts are very close to the parks. If you can’t see fireworks from where you are at The Villas at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel or The Villas at Disneyland Hotel, a short walk will bring you to a decent viewing spot. As for Disney World, the 27,000 acre vacation destination has four parks and more than one opportunity each night to see fireworks do their thing. Location, location, location is everything for some people. When it comes to firework views, these DVC resorts are the worst.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas

This one is on purpose and by design. You may have noticed there are never firework shows at Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park. This is out of respect for the many animals that live there. Disney works to creative a peaceful environment for its special friends. That means any night time show at the park won’t have fireworks. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas is right next door but also has animals of its own. You won’t see any fireworks from here. This resort is located a decent distance away from the other parks. If you want to avoid fireworks all together, this is your safe zone.

Disney’s Old Key West Resort

You may be able to see the top of some fireworks at Epcot from Disney’s Old Key West Resort. Tall trees that seclude the resort really obstruct the view though. For as close as these two are you’d think there would be fantastic viewing. You will probably hear fireworks from here though, due to how close Epcot and Old Key West are. Guests staying at Disney’s Old Key West Resort won’t have any notable views of Disney fireworks.

Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort

While Saratoga Springs provides lovely views of Disney Springs and the water next to it, no fireworks will be found. This resort is located on the far east side of the property. With Magic Kingdom being all the way north, it’s just too far to see anything from there. As for Epcot, it’s possible to see fireworks from the top of the Disney Springs parking garage nearest the park. Even though Saratoga Springs is just across the water, there are too many tall trees in between the two for firework views to be a thing. Guests staying at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort do not have firework views.

Are fireworks loud at Disney resorts?

The three resorts mentioned above have the worst firework views. This means you can’t actually see the firework shows well from them. But what about the sound? Due to where they are located, each is different. You can definitely hear Epcot fireworks from Disney’s Old Key West Resort. Saratoga Springs is going to be more quiet. Animal Kingdom Lodge will give you the greatest chance at the most quiet stay.

Are the fireworks actually loud though? In some situations, yes. Sometimes the fireworks seem louder than other times. Like when it rains. The booms seem to echo for many miles. Even when it’s very cold out sometimes, the sounds seem to carry more. From inside your hotel room, resorts further away from the parks shouldn’t be bothered by the sound. Even at the closest resorts, with your door closed, the firework sound is not a concern for most guests. The monorail resort loop properties are some of the most coveted hotels to stay in. It wouldn’t be so if the firework sounds were disruptive or overwhelming to the masses.

There can be some pyrotechnics on the castle during the day, too. There is a little sky sparkle finale on some castle stage shows. These are smaller, not seen as easily from the resorts and not as loud as the biggest booms heard at night.

Disney Vacation Club tips: Which resorts have firework views at Disney World?

If you’re stuck on having a firework view from your resort, the monorail loop resorts are your best bet. The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows and Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort all charm guests with the best spots to watch from.

Boulder Ridge Villas and Copper Creek Villas and Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge have a decent but slightly obstructed viewing spot for Magic Kingdom fireworks. Disney’s Beach Club Villas, Disney’s BoardWalk Villas and Disney’s Riviera Resort all have ok views of Epcot fireworks.

Remember some of these resorts are near Disney’s Hollywood Studios or may have views of fireworks coming from that park. Sadly, there hasn’t been a real firework show there in years. Projection shows with a short pyrotechnic burst at the end are usually the norm at Studios. Fantasmic does have a few finale fireworks you might see from the area.

Our firework view posts for each resort recommend very specific viewing spots, where you can hear the show music and additional tips to help you have the best experience.

Different Disney firework shows, different views

With the big nighttime entertainment shakeup of 2023, many firework views have changed. In 2021, two new nighttime spectaculars were introduced for the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World Resort. This included Enchantment firework show at Magic Kingdom and the Harmonious nighttime show at Epcot. Neither were well received and both have since been replaced. Why does this matter? Every show Disney does is different in terms of firework product.

If I remember correctly, Illuminations had quite a bit more fireworks than Harmonious. This can make a big difference for those watching from their resort. From viewing spots around Riviera, there were large gaps without fireworks up in the sky with Harmonious. Anything that happens close to World Showcase Lagoon isn’t really visible from outside the park. However, the big, high fireworks in the sky can be seen from the surrounding resorts like Disney’s Riviera Resort, Disney’s Beach Club Villas and Disney’s BoardWalk Villas.

As for Enchantment, quite a bit changes with Happily Ever After. Enchantment had some of the biggest, highest fireworks we’ve ever seen at Magic Kingdom. It was the stunning visual standout of the 50th celebration. I think it was the music that made the show sink. With Happily Ever After back, there is a beautiful selection of themed firework product. It’s not quite as big or as high overall as Enchantment so that can alter which spots are good to see it from.
