Grand Floridian DVC Deluxe Studio vs. Resort Studio

Grand Floridian Refurbished

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa has firework views, a beautiful lobby with live music each night and a walkway to Magic Kingdom. The Disney Vacation Club rooms at this resort are elegantly decorated and channel the bright and airy aesthetic and classic decor in the lobby but with a modern touch. With the addition of more than 200 Resort Studios in 2022, this style of room unique to this resort makes up more than half of the DVC availability at the Grand Floridian. The Deluxe Studio and Resort Studio rooms sleep the same number of guests but have some small differences in sleeping arrangements, sitting space, location within the property, decor style and view options. Upon debut, the different studios’ point values are nearly the same aside from the Theme Park View in the Resort Studios which costs a few more points per night.

The Deluxe Studios were also refurbished in 2022 and that brought about some small changes. We have three Grand Floridian studio room types to consider and compare below: the original Deluxe Studio, the 2022 refurbished Deluxe Studio and the new Resort Studio. It’s worth noting the differences in the Deluxe Studio before and after this refurbishment for those who pay close attention to detail and may have been familiar with the pre refurb room.

What’s the difference between Grand Floridian Resort Studio and Deluxe Studio?

The biggest difference between the two studio style DVC Grand Floridian rooms is that the Resort Studios have two queen size beds in comparison to one queen size bed and one pull-down queen size bed in the Deluxe Studios. The Deluxe Studios originally had a pull out couch so it sounds like an upgrade to a more comfortable sleeping situation. The ability to pull down or push up a bed and have more living space may be a plus for some traveling parties who want seating in the room. For others, having two equal queen size beds might be the most enticing. It really depends on your travel party’s preferences.

Grand Floridian Studio Bathrooms

There is also the different bathroom styles to consider. The Deluxe Studio has a split bathroom with two separate showers. This can be a real luxury when you’re getting ready in the morning. One side of the bathroom closes off to be a shower and a toilet while the other side can close off with a shower and a sink area. Having these doors to close provides privacy and essentially creates two separate shower rooms. The added Resort Studio rooms do not have two showers but do have a door on the room with the shower and toilet. This can be closed off from the bathroom sink at least, which may provide convenience as well.

Do Grand Floridian Rooms Have Refrigerators?

It’s pretty common for Disney hotel rooms to have a small refrigerator and DVC villas take it a step further. Having a kitchen or kitchenette can make a difference to some DVC owners. Grand Floridian Deluxe Studios have a standard kitchenette with amenities like a sink, microwave, toaster and some accompanying items like a sponge, dish soap and paper towels. There is also a table with two chairs in the Deluxe Studios while the Resort Studios only have an entryway vanity with a bench as additional seating. The Resort Studio rooms do not have a full kitchenette but a Keurig, ice bucket and beverage cooler. This a slightly different than a small refrigerator as beverage coolers may not be quite as cold or big inside.

Grand Floridian DVC Deluxe Studio vs Resort Studio Decor

Another difference between the Deluxe Studio and Resort Studio rooms is the decor style and color palette. The Resort Studio room renderings feature powder blue-ish gray walls, pale pink curtains and a rug with leafy green print. There are gold and brass accents. The single pull down bed is different than many other DVC rooms because it does not feature any art. The pull-down bed art can be an exciting detail for some guests, especially those traveling with little ones.

The Deluxe Studio rooms have a more neutral palette overall with creams and some accent colors. The small pull down bed in Deluxe Studios has a cute Dumbo scene art installation. The pull-down queen size beds feature art as well with a gorgeous Mary Poppins scene.

Which Grand Floridian Studio Rooms Have Theme Park Views?

If having a Theme Park View room is important to you then that decides it. The Resort Studio is for you. If you want to be in the Disney Vacation Club building with the Mary Poppins penguins fountain then Deluxe Studios are your answer. 1. IMO, the lack of kitchenette and beverage cooler instead of a mini-fridge is a bigger deal in a DVC Studio than the color palette. The Resort Studio is a hotel room classified as DVC inventory.

  2. hello- I was wondering if either of the choices have adjoining room? That would be most helpful in deciding my next stay.. Thank you for your review.
