How Much is the Disney Timeshare?

Disney Vacation Club has a flexible, point-based system where Members are allotted an annual point value. When purchasing a contract, you choose the number of points based on the number of nights you want to stay each year and the size of the accommodations you’d like to stay in. Members stay magical year after year with Deluxe Disney Resort hotel stays. But how much is the Disney timeshare? The answer depends on how you buy Disney Vacation Club. You have options. It’s possible to buy from Disney Vacation Club directly or from a Member who is selling their contract using the assistance of a licensed real estate professional. Let’s go over buying a contract through Disney, buying a resale DVC contract and the differences in price between the two.

How Much is the Disney Timeshare?

Disney Timeshare Prices When Buying Directly From Disney

The Disney timeshare, known as Disney Vacation Club, varies greatly in price. Rates depend on the home resort you choose and the amount of points on the contract. The price per point at a resort is typically fixed when buying through Disney Vacation Club directly unless there is some kind of seasonal special. As of late 2022, the three resorts DVC is actively selling are Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas in Ko Olina, Hawai‘i and Disney’s Riviera Resort and The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa at Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando, Florida. All of these are sold at the going rate of $207 per point when purchased from DVC. It may also be possible to purchase at other home resorts based on availability and your preferences. The lowest per point price when buying direct is $125 at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort. The lowest per point price when buying direct at a Walt Disney World Resort home resort is $200 per point. There are three home resorts available at that per point price rate: Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort, Disney’s Old Key West Resort and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas. So to determine how much the Disney timeshare would cost you, you would take the per point price of the home resort you’re interested in and multiply that by the number of points you want.

As an example, let’s say you’re interested in 150 points at Disney’s BoardWalk Villas. When buying directly from Disney, BoardWalk is $230 per point. For 150 points, which allows you to stay for more than a week in a Deluxe Studio most times throughout the year, the price would be $34,500. Now let’s talk about the other option for buying Disney Vacation Club.

Disney Timeshare Prices When Buying Resale

There’s a way to save big on Disney Vacation Club: buying a contract from a Member who is selling theirs on the resale market. In comparison to direct, for 150 resale points at Disney’s BoardWalk Villas, the price would be about $22,000. At around $145 per point in 2022, that’s $85 in savings per point and $12,500 in savings overall. Each resort varies but you will probably be delightfully surprised at resale per point prices.

For some, resale can make DVC affordable where it would not have been otherwise. For others, buying resale may double the amount of points you can get with your budget. Resale prices also make adding on points quite tempting for those who are already Members. There is also great transparency with resale as you can search for listings at different point values and resorts and see prices up front. You can also negotiate sometimes with resale which is never an option with direct.

Is Resale the Same as Direct?

There are a few small differences between buying resale and direct. The biggest difference is the price. As you’ve seen illustrated above, it’s possible to save thousands on resale. There are some booking restrictions with resale. Most notably, those who purchase resale at Disney’s Riviera Resort can not use their points to stay at other DVC resorts. Also, if you buy resale anywhere but Riviera, you can not use those points to book at that resort. There’s still lots of flexibility within the first fourteen resorts. When it comes to Disney Vacation Club Membership Extras, those are only available to Members who purchase a minimum of 150 points directly from Disney. So DVC discounts and exclusive events are not included with resale. If those things are important to you, weigh it out. However, if the most important thing to you is that you’re getting DVC points at the best possible rate, resale is the way to go. With booking your stays, Disney Vacation Club works the same whether you buy direct or resale. The Disney timeshare provides a great value for Deluxe Resort stays and resale makes it that much better.
