How to Get DVC Benefits with Resale

How to Get DVC Benefits with Resale

Disney Vacation Club gives you the opportunity to invest in tomorrow’s vacations at today’s prices. DVC can also come with some special benefits and perks depending on how, and how many points, you purchase.

How to Get DVC Benefits with Resale

Some Disney Vacation Club perks are for all Members like complimentary resort parking and access to the Top of the World Lounge when it’s open. Other DVC benefits are only for those who qualify with a blue Disney Vacation Club Membership Card. Currently for new Members that requires purchasing a minimum of 150 points from Disney Vacation Club directly.

If you’re wondering how to get DVC benefits with resale, it may not be possible in the way you’re thinking. Cue sad trombone. There isn’t a way to make Members who purchase resale eligible for perks like dining or merchandise discounts or events like Moonlight Magic. However, in most cases, the savings you get through buying DVC resale instead of direct is unbeatable. If you’re saving thousands of dollars upfront, that’s much more preferable! You can use that money you save to buy tickets to many special events for years to come. It’s also likely that you may be receiving a comparable discount already with a Disney Annual Pass or Disney Chase Visa Card if you have either of those!

The truth is, none of these DVC benefits are definite or untouchable. Disney Vacation Club admits this on their site in the small print and openly in fewer words. DVC says:

‘Membership Extras, such as Disney-branded exchange options, all Concierge Collection options, certain discounts, offers, and special events are incidental benefits. These incidental benefits are subject to change or termination without notice, may require the payment of a fee and cannot be combined with any other offers or promotions.’

As we’ve seen over the last few years, special events offered to Disney Vacation Club Members with a blue card can be cancelled or discontinued at any time. Then there’s the extra challenge of needing to have a resort reservation when the DVC special event happens in some cases.

There is one way to get DVC benefits with resale but it only works if you plan on purchasing a lot of points. Let’s say you’re interested in having 300 Disney Vacation Club points. You can buy your first 150 points directly from Disney to qualify for all the DVC benefits. Then you can buy the other 150 points in resale DVC. Your resale points will not interfere with your status and you’ll still get the amazing resale price on half of your points. You can talk to an Expert for different scenarios and how to make your Membership work for you!

Remember the most valuable benefits of Disney Vacation Club like the Home Resort eleven month booking window which gives you first access to book vacations at the resort you chose. Also the incredible savings on your annual vacations over time. That’s the real magic.
