When people think of Walt Disney World, they think of Magic Kingdom. There are four theme parks, two water parks and so many resorts at Disney World in Orlando. Yet, it’s always the park with the castle that comes to mind. Magic Kingdom opened in 1971 and it’s the special place people associate with the name Disney. That castle really leaves an impression! It’s no surprise vacationers love to stay close to this park on their trips. The monorail line offers continuous, complimentary rides to the park and stops at neighboring resorts. The Magic Kingdom resorts on the monorail loop are treasured and beloved favorites. They are all also Disney Vacation Club resorts! You can get annual Disney hotel stays at a much better rate by joining the Disney timeshare. DVC
resale makes the prices even better. If any of these sound like a place you’d like to stay year after year, the Experts can help with that!
DVC Magic Kingdom Monorail Resorts
Disney’s Contemporary Resort
Disney’s Contemporary Resort is located right next to Magic Kingdom and has a monorail station in the main building. It’s neat to see the monorails enter the building, pick up guests and exit the building headed for Main Street, U.S.A. This resort is very close to the park and has constant monorails ready to take you over. It’s also possible to use the path way to Magic Kingdom from this opening day resort. Many would say the walk is less than 10 minutes from Bay Lake Tower to Magic Kingdom. The Disney Vacation Club resort at the Contemporary is called
Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. It debuted in 2010. The timeshare deeds for this home resort expire in 2060. That means you can call Bay Lake Tower home with decades of vacations ahead as a DVC Member there. Imagine stays next door to Tomorrowland every year. Bay Lake Tower is one of the Magic Kingdom monorail resorts with the best firework views. Theme Park View rooms provide shimmering shows in the sky each night. Disney Vacation Club sells Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort for $275 per point in 2023. Over the last few years, Bay Lake Tower sells for a DVC
resale price of around $141 to $159 per point. That’s more than $130 in savings per point in some cases. It’s popular for Members to buy 100 and 150 point contracts. This kind of price difference can save you more than $13,000 buying an average sized contract. It’s definitely worth considering.
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
Another opening day 1971 resort, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is filled with nostalgia. Visitors have been enjoying stays at the Polynesian for decades. Its picturesque landscapes and torch lit walk ways make it one to remember. The restaurants at Disney’s Polynesian are also raved about. The family style food served at ‘Ohana is a hit and Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto creates a lively atmosphere for adults. The Disney Vacation Club resort at the Polynesian opened in 2016. It’s referred to as
Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows. All contracts here, including DVC resale, expire in 2066. This is a unique home resort property because of the bungalows. These small, house like structures hover over the Seven Seas Lagoon with perfect views of Magic Kingdom’s fireworks each night. There is also a Disney Vacation Club tower at the Polynesian that offers additional room types. The Magic Kingdom monorail resort prices are justified by the convenience they provide. In addition to monorail access at the resort, Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows provides complimentary boat transportation to resort guests. Disney Vacation Club has the Polynesian home resort priced at $250. With DVC resale, prices have been around $147 to $160 per point over the last few years. Prices per point also depend largely on how many points are on a contract. Typically, the more you buy, the better the per point price is with DVC resale. When you buy direct from DVC, there is no negotiating.
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
Many consider
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa the flagship resort hotel at Walt Disney World Resort. This property is located right next to Magic Kingdom on the side opposite of the Contemporary. The views from the monorail are beautiful around the Grand Floridian. A walking path was also put in for guests to use in late 2020. This convenient, waterfront stroll takes around 15 minutes heading to or from Magic Kingdom or the Grand Floridian. This luxurious property has two dedicated Disney Vacation Club buildings within one home resort. The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort is charming and elegant with inspiration from Mary Poppins. Disney Vacation Club sells the Grand for $217 per point. This is lower than years’ past. The price drop is because, with the addition of one of the buildings, The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort is actively being sold again. When the capacity is once again considered sold out, we can anticipate the price going up. With DVC resale, it’s recently been possible to pay $160 to $176 per point at this resort. The DVC addition opened in 2014 and contracts here expire in 2064.
Does the Magic Kingdom monorail go to Epcot?
Something else to note, all of these Magic Kingdom monorail resorts can also get you to Epcot. There is a monorail station in the front of Epcot. It doesn’t connect to any resorts there. However, guests of Magic Kingdom’s monorail loop resorts can switch lines at the Ticket & Transportation Center to get to Epcot and back. It’s also possible to take a bus back and forth from the resorts mentioned above to Epcot.
DVC Resale at Magic Kingdom Resorts

You can get the best rate possible with DVC resale at Magic Kingdom resorts. Make someone else’s contract your own at an incredible rate! You can also buy your first 150 points from Disney Vacation Club directly to get all the extra perks, then buy any additional points with DVC resale to save.
Magic Kingdom Resort Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Offers Boat Transport
Honorable mention goes to the only Magic Kingdom resort that is
not on the monorail line. That’s Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. This property is located on the shores of Bay Lake. Basically that’s the body of water behind Disney’s Contemporary Resort if you’re at all familiar with the area. While there isn’t a monorail station here, there is special transportation and the resort is still one of the closest. By way of boat, guests of Wilderness Lodge can be at Walt Disney World in about 17 minutes. People also like to know if you can see
fireworks from Wilderness Lodge. Disney’s Wilderness Lodge has some decent firework viewing right on Bay Lake and plays the soundtrack to the show. Wilderness Lodge is home to two DVC resorts: Boulder Ridge and Copper Creek.
Disney’s Riviera Resort Has Fast Transportation via Disney Skyliner
If you like this kind of convenient access to Disney’s theme parks, you may also want to consider Disney’s Riviera Resort. This beautifully themed, European inspired hotel has its own Disney Skyliner station. That means you can hop in a gondola that will float you across Disney World property right to the World Showcase entrance of Epcot. It’s also possible to take the Skyliner from Riviera to the main station and transfer to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Like the monorail, the Skyliner provides incredibly convenient transportation. This is, of course, also complementary and may be faster than the monorail in some cases. Resort preference really depends on the kind of theming you enjoy at your hotel and the location if that’s important to you.
