At the 2024 D23 event in Anaheim, California, more information was shared during the Disney Experiences Showcase presentation lead again by Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro. Here’s what we know.

Pirates of the Caribbean Lounge Details

We’ve known a Pirates of the Caribbean themed lounge is headed to Adventureland at Magic Kingdom in Orlando, Florida. Now we have more specifics. This Adventureland space extends the story of the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction. When it was first announced in September of 2023, Disney said Imagineers were in the design process and more details would come in the future. Since then we’ve seen construction walls go up!

Where is the Pirates of the Caribbean lounge going at Magic Kingdom?

There has been a lot of speculation about where exactly the Pirates of the Caribbean lounge will go in Magic Kingdom’s Adventureland.

The Pirates of the Caribbean lounge will take the space of the former makeover salon The Pirates League. This is basically in between the entrance and exit of the ride. Parts of the attraction gift shop have been undergoing refurbishment and construction as well.

If you look at the overall space in Adventureland, a fair amount of it is used for pirates themed offerings. It remains one of the most popular franchises among Disney fans and visitors. Even before the Johnny Depp films, the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction was noted as a must do for many guests in Disney Parks.

When is the Pirates of the Caribbean lounge opening?

Is there a Disney World Pirates of the Caribbean restaurant?

The Pirates of the Caribbean lounge is the closest we will have to a Pirates of the Caribbean restaurant at Disney World. Right now there is no Pirates of the Caribbean restaurant at Disney World.

For years, Adventureland has had Tortuga Tavern across from the pirates attraction. This quick service location is not open every day. It serves as more of a peak time offering when the parks are very full. You may have also trick or treated at Tortuga Tavern during Mickey’s Halloween party or picked up cookies and cocoa here at Mickey’s Christmas party.

In the summer of 2024, we saw Tortuga Tavern become what looks like a temporary merchandise shop while some of the Pirates attraction exit shop is under construction.

This was a private pirate themed dessert party in a small ballroom space followed by boat excursion with a pirate that would entertain before and after the Magic Kingdom fireworks. This enchanted extra also included visits with Captain Hook and Smee and a special guest upon returning.

The Pirates and Pals Fireworks Voyage was something special but, unfortunately, has not returned.
