With so many great restaurants and experiences you won’t want to miss, Disney vacations are often packed with magic from morning to night. Ready to get some relaxation in? A stay at Disney’s Beach Club Villas includes access to what many consider the best pool at Walt Disney World Resort.
What is Stormalong Bay at Disney?
Stormalong Bay is a three acre water park area at Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts. Typically each resort has its own pool. Disney’s Yacht Club Resort and Disney’s Beach Club Resort are nestled close together and share this spectacular pool oasis along with some other amenities. These resorts are part of the Epcot resort area on Crescent Lake. The beautiful and expansive space is filled with palm trees, winding bridges and water features. The lakeside location really adds to the atmosphere. It even has a lighthouse view! The boat dock for water transport to the parks features a lighthouse that tops off the theme in style. The real jewel here is the sparkling, teal water that seems to have no end as multiple pools combine to create the ultimate experience.
Disney creates themed atmospheres like no one else. That’s why you’ll find a life sized ship at Stormalong Bay with one of the tallest water slides at Disney World. This massive slide is 230 feet long! Another section of the shipwreck features a smaller pool with a slide for the littles. Kids also love the sand bottom pool and shore area. These shallow waters are the perfect place for play.
Stormalong Bay has three whirlpool spas. These hot tubs are the perfect way to loosen up. The theme continues with oversized rocks that surround the spas and add privacy. For those wanting to lay in the Florida sunshine, the elevated sun deck offers beautiful views. Comfortable lounge chairs are all around and towels are provided.
Another feature that sets the Stormalong Bay pool above the rest is the lazy river. Yes, a lazy river right at the resort. There’s just something about making the rounds carelessly by float. Grab one of the tubes provided and come on in. The water’s fine.
Guests can usually expect poolside games, trivia and activities hosted by a recreation Cast Member in the afternoon.
Stormalong Bay Cabanas are available for an additional charge and include a fan, chairs and a couch, television with cable, an outlet, a mini refrigerator with complimentary sodas and water, a fruit basket if you book in advance, towels and a safe. There is also a Cast Member dedicated to providing service to the cabanas. Say hello to cocktail service!
Stormalong Bay Dining Options
There are plenty of poolside dining options. Hurricane Hanna’s Waterside Bar and Grill is conveniently located right next to the lazy river. You’ll find typical American fare here. The menu also offers themed adult beverages like the Category 5 for those who love a poolside cocktail. Disney’s fruity Banana Cabana drink is a fan favorite. There is a small bar to sit and sip or you can take your order to go.
Just outside the fenced in pool area is one of the most treasured Disney restaurants. Beaches & Cream Soda Shop is easily in the top five restaurants among the DVC resorts. This venue is a diner dream with milkshakes and burgers. If you want this to be part of your pool day, plan in advance. This restaurant is popular so you’ll need a reservation. However, for a quick dessert you can use the takeout window to get something sweet and wonderful like the No Way Jose. This popular Disney treat is a peanut butter and hot fudge sundae. Beaches & Cream offers non-dairy ice cream too.
Getting food from Disney’s quick service restaurants inside the resort is a summer breeze with mobile ordering. Start your day with Mickey waffles from the Beach Club Marketplace and pick them up on the way to find your chairs.
Disney’s Beach Club Villas Pool
Aside from the wonder and adventure of Stormalong Bay, Disney’s Beach Club Villas also have the private Dunes Cove pool near the Disney Vacation Club area of the resort. This more relaxed setting hosts a smaller pool and spa. Disney’s Beach Club Resort has yet another pool on the Crescent Lake side of the resort closest to Epcot. Those craving a more quiet day by the water may opt for one of these.Read more about this resort in our DVC Resort Review Beach Club.
