The DVC fan favorite, exclusive venue Top of the World Lounge at Bay Lake Tower has reopened! With a shiny new name, Top of the World Lounge — A Villains Lair also debuts some subtle decor inspired by the best of the worst. Through a clever write up, Disney Vacation Club made guests aware that Disney villains had inhabited the space while it was closed over the last few years. As the story goes, they left a few things behind after enjoying the place themselves. Upon entering, you might see some villains accessories on a coat rack or hung on a wall.
Top of the World Lounge A Villains Lair Decor and Menu Details
If you enjoyed the feeling of Top of the World Lounge before the 2020 closure, you can take a deep breath because it’s mostly the same. The best parts are still around. Many would say the chandelier is one of the most memorable details of the exclusive space. This stunning piece of eye candy is still there with its beautiful reflections beaming on the floor to ceiling windows. Also a treasured centerpiece, the monorail art behind the bar is still there as well. It is just a stunning piece to sit and look at. Not just John Hench’s inspiring art but the translucent medium it has been placed on which brings the design to life. Any drink tastes better with a view of that visual. One thing that has changed is the images in the seating alcove. The former vintage Disney art that complimented the monorail wall has been replaced with images of Ursula, Jafar and other Disney villains. Overall, the space still feels chic and simplistic.
For drinks and eats, a new menacing menu debuts with the same style of lounge fare. Visitors can order an extra large Twisted Tales Pretzel, a Tomatoes of Terror Flatbread, The Empress’ Charcuterie Board or other delish delights. The beverages sound the most fun with names like Cursed Pirate (pictured), The Underworld and The Lion’s Uncle. The Seven-Lair Cake is available for dessert.
Top of the World Lounge A Villains Lair Tips
And now for some pro tips. Don’t forget that you can step out onto the observatory deck behind the bar for additional views. Bay Lake is just lovely from sixteen floors up but especially when the Electrical Water Pageant floats by. This is certainly a unique viewing spot. The Electrical Water Pageant makes its rounds nightly and Disney’s Contemporary Resort has quite a few fantastic views of it. For the world’s most magical celebration the Electrical Water Pageant has a new segment featuring the castle and the fiftieth anniversary logo. It looks better than ever twinkling around the Magic Kingdom area.
For those visiting the Top of the World Lounge — A Villains Lair this summer shortly after it opens, Disney Enchantment will be showing twice nightly from July 14th through the 24th. That gives more people a chance each night to catch the show from this incredible spot. Also, to possibly see Harmonious at 9:00 p.m. then hop on a monorail over to see the second Magic Kingdom fireworks showing from Top of the World Lounge. The venue has a pretty large capacity. With two nightly fireworks showings, it seems like it could clear out a bit after the first if it does become full, allowing more DVC Members and their guests the chance to see the fireworks from the lounge or observatory deck.
