Wailulu Bar & Grill: Disney Polynesian Island Tower Restaurant

The all new Island Tower building at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort opens in late 2024 and debuts with shiny, new amenities. A brand new, sparkling pool with Moana theming will dazzle the property next to the Island Tower. There’s also a new Disney Polynesian restaurant joining the iconic dining lineup at this resort. This is particularly exciting because it’s rare. We’ve seen many Disney Vacation Club resort additions open without any additional dining at the property. With these expansions, more people will be staying at the resort and it’s nice to see a higher dining capacity. Let’s go over everything we know about the Disney Polynesian Island Tower restaurant.

Wailulu Bar & Grill Disney Polynesian Restaurant

The Polynesian restaurant Wailulu Bar and Grill actually has a very peaceful meaning. The term Wailulu is Hawaiian. “Wai” means water and “lulu” means calm. It translates to calm water bar and grill. This new Polynesian restaurant probably has the best views of the serene Seven Seas Lagoon at this resort so it’s fitting.

The Wailulu Bar & Grill Disney Polynesian restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating.

What’s it like inside Wailulu Bar & Grill at the Polynesian?

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is known for great restaurant and lounge settings with indoor and outdoor options. Wailulu Bar & Grill is an indoor and outdoor setting as well. There is also a casual, walk up pool bar.

There aren’t many bars or restaurants with views of Cinderella’s Castle at Magic Kingdom. That’s something that makes Wailulu special and worth visiting on your stay.

The indoor dining room has special artwork inspired by Polynesia created just for the space. There are floating tropical fish sculptures made from recycled materials. These fish lead to another unique installation that represents a colorful coral reef.

The middle of the dining room has an abstract Polynesian Stick Chart. This is a type of navigation tool used long ago for sea travel. This kind of reminds me of a certain wayfinder from Motunui. Moana is also featured in a painting in the Wailulu Bar & Grill.

Wailulu Bar & Grill Menu

The Disney Parks Blog has plans to share details of the Wailulu Bar & Grill Menu “in the near future.” So far we know breakfast has specialty coffee beverages and morning pastries to go.

Flavors of Polynesia is the cuisine style.

Wailulu Bar and Grill has an all day lunch and dinner menu. The food is influenced by “local and indigenous ingredients” of Polynesian Islands.

What are the Disney Polynesian restaurants?

This brings the total number of restaurants at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort up to four. There are also some bar and lounge settings, two pool bars and a walk up Dole whip window.

Here are the Disney Polynesian restaurants:

  • ‘Ohana – all-you-care-to-enjoy served family style
  • Kona Cafe – American fare with subtle Asian influences
  • Wailulu Bar & Grill – to go breakast, lunch and dinner with flavors of Polynesia
  • Captain Cook’s – quick service all day dining with hot breakfast, stirfries, pizza and more
  • Pineapple Lanai – a walk up Dole whip window with casual outdoor seating
  • Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto – an indoor, over the top, magical tiki bar where the walls come to life
  • Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace – an outdoor lounge area with string lights, a waterfall and a live musician
  • Tambu Lounge – a small bar and lounge attached to ‘Ohana with tropical drinks and light bites
