Membership Magic Beyond FAQs

Can resale DVC Members buy Membership Magic Beyond?

The Membership Magic Beyond option is a part of Membership Extras. New Members must have 150 points, or more, purchased directly from Disney. You may also be eligible due to purchasing under different requirements in the past. Members who own resale alone are not able to purchase this option. This, like other perks, is an incidental benefit subject to availability, change or termination. It can go away or continue on based on what Disney wants.

When does it go on sale?

Membership Magic Beyond is available for purchase starting December 3, 2024. The benefits start January 12 and last through December 31, 2025. If the program continues, Members need to purchase it again the following year to continue using it.

Is Membership Magic Beyond worth it?

This will depend on how you use your Membership. “All offers are subject to availability,” also makes it hard to tell if it’s worth it.

The Membership Magic Beyond option is worth it if you use points to book certain things outside of rooms. There is usually a $95 transaction fee that comes with using points on the Disney Collection Resorts. This also applies for booking experiences like Adventures by Disney, Disney Cruise Line and National Geographic Expeditions with points. If you plan to do any of these, paying the $99 for Membership Magic Beyond for that year makes it worth it. It’s just a few dollars more than the $95 transaction fee and provides the other benefits listed too.

If you usually purchase Disney annual passes, this may not be worth it if you don’t want to use points to buy them. However, someone who purchases regular tickets may find the specially priced ticket options beneficial.

Lastly, Memory Maker could make this worth it if that’s something you normally purchase or you would like to.

Can you buy an annual pass with DVC points?

It was not always possible to buy an annual pass with DVC points but the Membership Magic Beyond option makes it possible. Disney does say, “Special ticket and Annual Pass offers are not part of the ownership interest and are subject to change or termination.” This makes it unclear if the option to buy a Disney annual pass with points will stay or if it can be taken away during the Membership Magic Beyond term even after you’ve paid for it though that’s probably unlikely.

Phrases like “subject to change or cancellation” have long been a part of the small print at Disney. However, these terms and conditions really started to be used over the last few years. During the pandemic, we saw beloved perks and extras, immediately cancelled. It made sense at the time but not reinstating, or taking years to bring back, certain offerings isn’t providing the top quality service Disney is known for. For example, DVC pool hopping is a lesser known perk available to all Members. It’s been on pause for years. We’ll have to see if everything that comes with this program sticks around.
