It’s the most wonderful time of the year and select Disney resorts are bringing their holiday best. Wilderness Lodge is a thing of beauty any day of the year if you ask me. Disney Vacation Club members who call Copper Creek or Boulder Ridge home know this resort is like a hug from nature. During the holidays, though, the Wilderness Lodge lobby transforms into a festive, cozy environment with, what just may be, the best decorations at Walt Disney World. Let’s discover, or revisit, the magic of Christmas at this resort and see what Wilderness Lodge Christmas 2021 looks like.

The Wilderness Lodge lobby is one of the most impressive and ornate of all the resorts at Walt Disney World. It’s wide open, multistory height and incredible wood aesthetic make it so warm and inviting. For Christmas time the lobby gets a full makeover with oversized lit garlands strung stories high. There’s already a stunning fireplace year round but it adds a wonderful winter ambience this time of year.

The floor level is filled with whimsical greens of wreaths and smaller trees as well. In the back you’ll find the indoor geyser and bridge are festive for the season too. This bridge is one of the most picturesque places here with eye-catching garlands, ribbons and ornaments in the browns, greens and reds of the season. For a breathtaking view of the lobby and decorations visit the second floor, or any higher floor for that matter, to change your perspective. Remember the restaurant, Whispering Canyon, located in the lobby is open and feels like part of the space making it a great setting to enjoy the decor and tree. You can read about this and other dining options in our Wilderness Lodge dining guide.

There are Christmas trees in every corner of Disney during the holiday season but the one at Wilderness Lodge is a mountain compared to others. It’s one of the only resort trees that is as impressive as the ones found in the four theme parks. The Wilderness Lodge Christmas tree seems to reach up to the fifth floor. It’s one you need to tilt your head up to see the top of. Remember to look at the top, too, because there’s an enormous glowing star worth seeing. The warm glow of the lights gives off a calming feel and sets the tone for a happy holiday visit. This tree is decorated with white lights, large cranberry red bulbs, birch style ornaments and rings, canoes and more historic American inspired treasures. It’s absolutely worth exploring close up. You’re sure to find holiday cheer nestled in the branches.

This DVC building has a gorgeous two story tree of its own. It’s decorated with soft plaid ribbons, Native American touches and hints of nature like berries and pine cone ornaments.

There are rustic touches all around but especially on the fireplace mantle in the Carolwood Pacific room. A Santa statue that looks to be a wood carving sits in a small forest of rusty and twiggy evergreens. Boulder Ridge feels particularly cozy during the holidays! Christmas time is just pure magic here. For more holiday offerings see our article on Disney World Holiday Celebrations 2021.
